Executive Underwriter - Lawyer Professional Liability

For our client, a leader in the Finance & Insurance space, we are seeking an Executive Underwriter specializing in Lawyer Professional Liability to support financial discipline around P&L visibility, margin improvement, and business performance. This role partners with executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to enhance planning processes, financial discipline, controls, and resource allocation, offering the opportunity to influence enterprise performance and scalable financial operations within a regulated financial services environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of Lawyer Professional Liability (LPL) renewal business focused on law firms with 15+ attorneys
• Evaluate complex law firm risks, including claims history and emerging legal malpractice exposures
• Develop renewal strategies, coverage recommendations, and pricing solutions
• Serve as a trusted partner to brokers, negotiating terms and providing underwriting expertise
• Analyze underwriting submissions and financial information for informed decisions
• Monitor portfolio performance and provide recommendations to ensure profitability
• Collaborate with claims, actuarial, and underwriting leadership on complex risk evaluations

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience
• 5+ years of underwriting experience within Professional Liability, Financial Lines, Professional Lines, or E&O
• Direct Lawyer Professional Liability (LPL) or Legal Malpractice underwriting experience preferred
• Experience underwriting law firms and managing complex renewal business preferred
• Strong knowledge of LPL, Legal Malpractice, Professional Liability, and E&O coverages

Pay

$153,600 – $192,000 annually
