About the Role

As a General Merchandise Sales Executive Team Leader, you will lead operations, process, and efficiency to ensure a consistent guest experience. This role involves managing inbound, outbound, replenishment, inventory accuracy, presentation, pricing, and promotional signing for all General Merchandise (GM) areas of the store, including Food & Beverage and Food Service. You will also oversee pick, pack, and ship fulfillment.
Responsibilities
- Drive total store sales and understand your role in sales growth and profitability
- Manage a team executing inbound, outbound, replenishment, inventory accuracy, presentation, pricing, and promotional signing for all GM areas
- Enable efficient delivery to guests by leading pick, pack, and ship fulfillment work
- Create a guest-obsessed culture and prioritize guest experience to deliver on store sales goals
- Develop and utilize workload planning tools to ensure the store is guest-ready at all times
- Create scheduling plans based on business workload and guest traffic
- Conduct regular check-ins with your team to ensure task completion and workload management
- Manage all GM backroom and sales floor areas, identify gaps, and develop resolution plans
- Oversee Team Leaders' workload planning, including transitions, revisions, and sales plans
- Drive fulfillment sales by ensuring accurate and efficient order fulfillment
- Assess competition and leverage guest insights to drive business objectives
- Plan, manage, and follow up on organizational and operational changes
- Anticipate and identify changes in store trends
- Develop and coach Team Leaders to elevate team skills and expertise
- Establish a culture of accountability through clear expectations and performance management
- Anticipate staffing needs, talent plan, and recruit both long and short term
- Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance
- Address store needs, including emergencies and regulatory visits
- Follow all safe and secure training and processes as a key carrier
Requirements
- 4-year degree or equivalent experience
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong business acumen
- Comfortable dealing with ambiguity
- Ability to manage conflict, lead, and hold others accountable
- Ability to relate well with and interact with all levels of the organization
- Strong cognitive skills, including problem analysis, decision making, financial, and quantitative analysis
- Ability to learn and adapt to current technology needs
- Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently
- Access all areas of the building to respond to guest or team member issues
- Interpret instructions, reports, and information
- Scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to 40 pounds
- Accurately handle cash register operations
- Climb up and down ladders
- Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends, and holidays) and regular attendance necessary
Skills
- Knowledge of guest service fundamentals and experience building a guest-first culture
- Knowledge of retail business fundamentals, including department sales trends, inventory management, guest shopping patterns, pricing, and promotions strategies
- Experience setting and planning department(s) monthly/quarterly workload to support business priorities and managing a team to deliver on sales goals
- Knowledge of the competition and leveraging insights to drive business objectives
- Experience managing a team of hourly team members and leaders, creating business-specific strategies and goals
- Skills in recruiting, selecting, and talent management of hourly team members and leaders
