The Executive Team Leader GM Sales (Assistant Manager General Merchandise) role at Target is designed to empower personal and professional growth within a supportive environment. This position focuses on enabling a consistent experience for guests by ensuring product availability, freshness, and accurate pricing.

Responsibilities

  • Drive total store sales and understand your role in sales growth
  • Manage Food & Beverage, food services, inbound, outbound, replenishment, inventory accuracy, presentation, pricing, and promotional signing processes for all GM areas of the store
  • Lead a team of experts in operations, accuracy, and efficiency
  • Enable efficient delivery to guests by leading pick, pack, and ship fulfillment work
  • Develop a strategy and utilize workload planning tools to ensure all scheduled workload is completed and the team is guest-ready at all times
  • Conduct regular check-ins with your team to ensure task completion and workload adherence
  • Manage GM backroom and sales floor areas, review reporting, and develop plans to address identified gaps
  • Oversee GM Team Leaders’ workload planning including transitions, revisions, sales plans, and sampling/promotions
  • Drive fulfillment sales by leading the Fulfillment team to fulfill orders accurately and efficiently
  • Ensure a food-safe environment by training, validating, and coaching the team on food safety standards and cleaning routines
  • Lead an efficient operation to support sales culture
  • Oversee Food & Beverage Team Leader’s workload planning including transitions, revisions, sales plans, sampling, and promotions
  • Create a guest-centered culture that prioritizes the guest experience and achieves store sales goals
  • Assess and manage unique store trends, develop strategies, and coach your team to enhance their skills and expertise
  • Establish a culture of accountability through clear expectations, performance management, and team development
  • Provide exceptional service and a shopping experience that meets guest needs
  • Demonstrate ethical conduct, safety, and compliance, and hold team members accountable to these commitments
  • Follow safe and secure training and processes as a key carrier
  • Address store needs such as emergency situations, regulatory visits, etc.

Requirements

  • A 4-year degree or equivalent experience
  • Strong interest and knowledge of the Food & Beverage business
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong business acumen
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and managing conflict
  • Ability to manage and hold others accountable
  • Relatable and able to interact with all levels of the organization
  • Strong cognitive skills, including problem analysis, decision-making, financial, and quantitative analysis
  • Ability to learn and adapt to current technology needs
  • Ability to manage workload and prioritize tasks independently

Qualifications

  • Access all areas of the building to respond to guest or team member issues
  • Interpret instructions, reports, and information
  • Scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequent lifting or moving merchandise up to 40 pounds
  • Accurately handle cash register operations
  • Climb up and down ladders
  • Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends, and holidays) and regular attendance necessary

Skills

  • Knowledge of guest service fundamentals and experience building and managing a guest-first culture on your team
  • Knowledge of retail business fundamentals including department sales trends, inventory management, freshness and quality, guest shopping patterns, pricing, and promotions strategies
  • Experience in setting and planning department(s) monthly/quarterly workload to support business priorities and managing a team to deliver on sales goals
  • Experience in the competition; leveraging insights to drive business objectives
  • Experience managing a team of hourly team members and leaders and creating business-specific strategies and goals
  • Skills in recruiting, selecting, and talent management of hourly team members and leaders

Pay

The pay range for this role is $64,000.00 - $128,000.00, based on several factors including labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications.

Schedule

The role requires a flexible work schedule that includes early morning, evening, overnight shifts, and weekends.
