Responsibilities

  • Direct a variety of complex support service functions such as personnel, expenditure control, maintenance and upkeep of buildings and grounds.
  • Requisition, store, issue, and locally procure supplies and equipment; handle accounting and approval of requisitions for payment of operating expenses.
  • Monitor compliance and reconcile account balances upon receipt of appropriate authorization from the accounting office.
  • Supervise staff responsible for maintaining records.
  • Gather and compile projected expenditure information; monitor expenditures.
  • Assist in preparing facility or agency budgets; prepare or assist in the preparation of reports and development of grant requests/contracts.
  • Monitor expenditures for compliance with fiscal requirements.
  • Approve service contract documents and statewide accounting system encumbrances.
  • Approve and ensure processing of procurement and service contract invoices.
  • Research, develop, and prepare scope of work, bid documents, and amendments; determine vendor selection for procurement of supplies, equipment, and services.
  • Direct and approve processing of orders, expense accounts, out-of-state travel requests, invoices, receivers, payment vouchers, and purchase requests.
  • Monitor compliance with rules, procedures, regulations, and fiscal requirements.
  • Assist in the development of budget plans and prepare journal vouchers.
  • Select, train, and supervise staff.
  • Respond to inquiries from state officials, customers, vendors, and the general public.
  • Exercise independent judgment and initiative under general supervision; work is reviewed for conformance to established policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related work as assigned.

Requirements

  • One or more years of experience as an Executive I, Senior Accounts Assistant, or Stores/Warehouse Supervisor with the Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System, and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency.
  • Five or more years of professional or technical experience in the administration of fiscal or budgetary controls, procurement, accounting or bookkeeping, or experience closely related to the responsibilities listed above.

Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university, that includes credit hours in accounting, or public/business administration, may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to four years of the required experience, at a rate of 30 credit hours for one year – a minimum of one year of experience is required.

Pay

The Department of Corrections currently offers a guaranteed 1% pay increase for every two years of continuous service up to 20 years.

  • $2.00 per hour shift differential if assigned to a shift that begins on or between 12:00pm (noon) and 5:00am and employed at a 24/7 congregate care facility (e.g., institution, transition center, supervision center, or command center).
  • $0.75 per hour medium security or $1.50 maximum security differential if working full-time at a qualifying facility.
  • $1.00 per hour restrictive housing differential if assigned a regular post within a restrictive housing/segregation unit at any facility.
