Executive Director - Senior Living
About the Role
Las Ventanas at Summerlin, Nevada’s only Life Plan Community, is seeking an accomplished Executive Director to lead our premier 17-acre community in the heart of Las Vegas. Responsibilities
- Leads planning process to develop goals for quality care, team member retention, and financial performance.
- Manages the day-to-day operations of the community.
- Directs the hiring and training of personnel.
- Prepares annual budgets for approval by Senior Regional Management.
- Directs and guides the activities of clinical, administrative, and service departments.
- Implements control systems to ensure accountability of all departments.
- Represents the community at meetings and promotes programs through various news media.
- Monitors performance for achievement of goals and for improvement, and takes corrective action when necessary.
- Responsible for census development and marketing.
- Ensures all team members receive orientation and ongoing training to meet the quality goals of the organization.
- Functions as Compliance Liaison, ensuring Compliance Program and Corporate Compliance Agreement (CCA) requirements are met, including:
- Providing leadership and support related to compliance activities.
- Monitoring and ensuring execution of the Compliance Program and CCA requirements.
- Developing and distributing written compliance-related materials.
- Ensuring the provision and documentation of appropriate training.
- Ensuring the appropriate distribution of internal and external audit reports and monitoring corrective action.
- Ensuring proper reporting and responses to compliance-related issues.
- Monitoring facilities staff in the execution of their compliance-related functions.
- Supervising staff at each operational level who assist the Compliance Liaison.
- Certifying annually that all plans of correction have been implemented and all compliance concerns reported.
- Acts as campus risk manager, working with the corporate risk manager and committee to develop and manage a campus risk management program.
- Provides assistance in the general administration, coordination, and operations of the community departments.
- Supervises department heads and clerical staff, including hiring, training, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
- Coordinates the operations and delivery of services by community departments.
- Ensures programs to enhance the welfare of residents and communicates with the Resident Council.
- Monitors the community environment to provide quality services, medical/nursing care, dignity, and comfort.
- Promotes the health and welfare of residents and assists with financial questions related to endowments and trusts.
- Complies with company mission standards in preparing for and responding to annual State Surveys.
- Provides leadership in all aspects of management of the Continuing Care Retirement Community.
- Assists in monitoring and managing the financial condition of the community, including budget preparation and administration.
- Oversees the maintenance of records, including resident status reports, statistics, and budgets.
- Directs local fundraising and endowment development.
- Assures that buildings and grounds are properly maintained.
- Assists in devising plans for disaster and emergency response.
- Authorizes purchases of supplies and equipment.
- Oversees and coordinates marketing efforts and the admissions program.
- Promotes favorable public relations and goodwill with residents, family members, and volunteers.
- Plans for and attends various resident, staff, and Board functions.
- Participates in the management of projects, including planning, bidding, and monitoring of budgets.
- Participates in Corporate Operations Administrative Councils and other committees/task forces.
- Remains current on legislation and regulations impacting community operations and ensures regulatory compliance.
- Attends and participates in local, state, and national association meetings.
- Leads staff to achieve community, function, and company performance goals.
- Ensures quality recruiting, hiring, development, and retention practices.
- Assigns, reviews, plans, and coordinates the work of team members.
- Administers pay, rewards, and recognition within company guidelines.
- Analyzes problems and implements solutions.
- Creates an environment that honors, respects, and values staff opinions and suggestions.
- Communicates performance standards and evaluates staff performance.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of senior-level experience in senior living administration or a related field.
- Current Nursing Facility Administrator (NFA) Certification (required for the Skilled Nursing department).
- Current Residential Facility Administrator (RFA) license and ability to act as licensed Administrator for Residential Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care, or Health Services Executive (HSE) license to cover both functions.
- A bachelor’s degree in a related field (business, social work, gerontology, public administration, etc.); a master’s degree is strongly desirable.
