Qualifications
- Must hold or be eligible for a valid Georgia Educators Certificate in Educational Leadership and/or Support Personnel License issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (required).
- Master’s Degree in a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in facilities operations, business administration, and/or program management.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of facilities and operations functions, including school facility design, facility maintenance, grounds and landscaping maintenance, supply and logistics management, and planning techniques and processes.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively present complex information to executive management, school system employees, and public groups in both written and oral formats.
- Ability to make executive decisions.
- Expertise in budget planning and control.
- Problem-solving, continuous improvement, and managing multi-site operations with general knowledge of local, state, and federal building codes.
- Ability to appraise the quality of school facilities and develop long-range plans and objectives.
- Exceptional ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with others.
- Strategic thinking with an appropriate level of detail analysis to plan and execute initiatives.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to analyze existing processes and identify areas for improvement.
- Ability to serve as a professional representative of Gwinnett County Public Schools.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, direction, and continuous quality improvement for the facilities and operations of Gwinnett County Public Schools.
- Lead research, development, implementation, and continuous quality improvement initiatives for planning and forecasting in the district.
- Establish and implement a long-term vision and incremental goals for student enrollment, boundary planning, SPLOST, and facility planning.
- Provide leadership and executive direction over redistricting efforts.
- Oversee building maintenance to ensure all facilities function according to original design parameters in alignment with the district’s mission, vision, and goals.
- Establish and implement long-term vision and incremental goals for the maintenance of schools and support facilities.
- Provide executive direction for the district’s network of utilities, including electricity, natural gas, water, and sewer.
- Lead and oversee all activities related to the administration and general operation of grounds maintenance in support of the district’s vision, mission, and goals.
- Establish and implement long-term vision and incremental goals for the maintenance of school grounds and facility landscaping.
- Provide leadership and guidance in planning, evaluating, and continuously improving operations of the Environmental, Print, and Supply Services department to support teaching and learning.
- Ensure all Facilities Services departments adhere to quality control procedures to improve production and minimize costs.
- Collaborate with department leadership to develop and enact quality control procedures where needed.
- Oversee budget, financial, and contract compliance accountability for the departments of Building Maintenance, Grounds Maintenance, Environmental, Print and Supply Services, Planning, and Systemwide Engineering.
- Keep the Chief Operations Officer informed of significant changes, events, and actions within the department, including projections, trends, and analysis of issues.
- Lead efforts to improve the quality of services, products, and processes through training, automation, and redesigning practices for the Facilities and Operations division.
- Support the Chief Operations Officer in planning and developing division strategies that align with the district’s mission, goals, and objectives.
