About the role
The Monroe (NC) Housing Authority (MHA) seeks an Executive Director to lead an organization with a budget of $4.8 million and a staff of 12 employees. MHA administers 325 Housing Choice Vouchers and 173 units of Public Housing which have been approved for Section 22 streamline voluntary conversion (PBV) and 33 RAD PBV units. The agency is considered a HUD High-Performer. The Housing Authority Board consists of 7 members.
Responsibilities
- Administer and manage public housing or nonprofit / for-profit affordable housing programs
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Develop and implement strategies to improve housing quality and affordability
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the organization
- Represent the agency in community meetings and forums
- Collaborate with stakeholders to enhance the effectiveness of housing programs
Requirements
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a discipline preferably in business administration, public administration, urban planning, public finance, or a closely related field
- A Master’s degree in similar fields is preferred
- Four years of experience in the administration or management of public housing or nonprofit / for-profit affordable housing
Qualifications
The candidate must possess excellent leadership skills, strong communication abilities, and the ability to work effectively with diverse groups. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with housing policy and regulations are required. Experience with HUD programs and community development initiatives is preferred.

Benefits
The selected candidate will be expected to reside in the metropolitan area. The agency offers a competitive compensation package, including a salary range of $101,388 to $121,062, based on qualifications and salary history.
