Executive Director, Global Medical Affairs - Cardiovascular Program Lead

About the role

The Executive Director, Global Medical Affairs Cardiovascular Program Lead at Amgen leads the Global Medical Affairs strategies for Amgen's Cardiovascular-Repatha program. This role involves shaping medical strategy throughout the lifecycle of Cardiovascular-Repatha, including inline indications and future programs. It requires extensive collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Serve on the Global Medical Affairs leadership team to help shape CV and Repatha strategic priorities
• Lead the development and execution of integrated global medical strategies across CV and Repatha Programs
• Partner with cross-functional leaders in Global Development, Commercial, Access, R&D, and regional medical teams to ensure alignment on scientific and medical objectives
• Lead and develop Global Medical Affairs Leads to drive excellence in launch planning, evidence generation, scientific communication, congress strategy, medical education, and stakeholder engagement
• Oversee global congress strategy and scientific engagement activities across CV, ensuring strategic prioritization, cross-functional alignment, and budget stewardship across regions
• Develop scientific narrative frameworks, core content, educational initiatives, publications strategies, and external engagement plans
• Engage with key opinion leaders, cooperative groups, professional societies, and academic networks to strengthen Amgen's scientific partnerships and reputation
• Support strategic planning and execution of medical education initiatives across physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and patient-focused stakeholders
• Collaborate with Field Medical leadership to develop a coordinated approach to external engagement and insight generation
• Ensure capture, analysis, and dissemination of scientific insights and emerging trends from congresses, professional societies, and external stakeholder interactions
• Support launch readiness and lifecycle management activities for both marketed and pipeline assets
• Provide strategic input into reimbursement, access, and value-based partnership initiatives
• Drive innovation and operational excellence, including the integration of AI-enabled solutions across medical engagement, congress planning, stakeholder management, and medical operations
• Recruit, develop, and mentor high-performing Medical Affairs teams while fostering a collaborative, patient-focused culture
• Continue to strengthen Amgen's reputation as a science-driven, patient-focused partner within the oncology and hematology communities

Requirements

The ideal candidate should have:

• A Doctorate degree & 6 years of medical affairs experience
• An ORMasters degree & 10 years of medical affairs experience
• An OBachelors degree & 12 years of medical affairs experience AND 6 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

Preferred qualifications include:

• MD
• Both inline and pipeline launch experiences
• 10+ years of biopharmaceutical industry experience across Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, or related functions
• Demonstrated experience supporting product launches and lifecycle management
• Strong knowledge of evidence generation, scientific communication, congress planning, and external engagement strategy
• Experience partnering with cooperative groups, professional societies, and academic institutions
• Expertise in medical education strategy and stakeholder engagement
• Strong financial, budgeting, and resource management capabilities
• Experience building and developing high-performing Medical Affairs teams
• Strong strategic thinking, communication, and organizational leadership skills
• Experience leveraging digital and AI-enabled solutions to improve medical engagement and operational effectiveness
• Deep understanding of global healthcare systems, reimbursement environments, and commercialization processes
• Knowledge of Good Clinical Practices (GCP) and global regulatory requirements

Benefits

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is $325,302 - $440,114. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
