About the role
The Executive Finance Director based in New York is a key member of the Corporate FP&A function, responsible for leading global Long-Range Planning (LRP), decision support, and strategic projects. This role reports directly to the VP of Corporate FP&A and serves as a strategic partner to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). It requires a commercially astute, analytical, and highly articulate leader who can collaborate closely with senior US executive stakeholders while maintaining alignment with the broader global finance function.
The role operates in a complex, multi-brand, matrix-structured, and multi-market environment, acting as the critical bridge between visionary strategy and grounded financial reality. It demands a blend of strong leadership and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and partner effectively across multiple teams and senior leadership. The Executive Finance Director will translate high-level corporate ambition into robust, multi-year financial models while driving high-stakes strategic projects.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Long-Range Planning & Decision Support
- Own the Global LRP process: Design, orchestrate, and execute the annual 5-year global financial planning process across all brands and geographic markets, collaborating closely with function and market teams.
- Translate qualitative brand and market strategies into quantitative, accurate, and fully integrated financial forecasts (P&L & Cash Flow).
- Build sensitivity analyses and stress-test business concepts through scenario modeling.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders and finance teams, providing data-backed recommendations that influence strategic direction.
- Translate complex financial data into compelling narrative presentations for executive and board-level consumption.
- Challenge assumptions made by commercial and brand leaders to ensure strategic plans are both ambitious and financially viable.
- Support the Business Development team as the financial architect for critical corporate initiatives, such as market entry/exit strategies, new business initiatives, brand portfolio optimization, commercial restructuring, or M&A evaluation.
- Support company valuations and collaborate with Advance on related initiatives.
- Financial Support to Transformation Project Management Office
- Serve as the strategic financial architect and governance anchor for major transformation programs, translating operational changes into measurable financial outcomes.
- Partner with the Transformation PMO to evaluate financial implications, risk profiles, and ROI of proposed initiatives, ensuring robust, strategically aligned business cases.
- Establish and oversee financial tracking frameworks and KPIs to monitor milestone-based spend, manage budget variances, and validate cost savings or value creation.
- Provide the CFO with financial visibility to ensure transformation projects drive sustainable, long-term profitability.
- Commercial Financial Support to Business Development Team
- Act as the commercial finance co-pilot to the Business Development team, driving financial strategy for high-stakes growth initiatives, brand licensing, and strategic partnerships.
- Lead or review financial modeling, valuation, and risk assessment for diverse monetization strategies, including real-life events and high-impact initiatives, ensuring data-driven business cases that safeguard corporate margins.
- Liaise with the financial controlling team to ensure accurate evaluation of deal implications and risk assessment.
- Support post-deal financial tracking and performance analysis, providing executive leadership with critical insights and progress milestones.
Requirements
- Ideally 10+ years of experience in FP&A or strategic finance.
- Experience in media or a similar industry within an international company.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience collaborating with senior finance professionals and business partners.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, comfortable handling large datasets and delivering high-quality outputs with minimal review.
- Proven ability to shift effortlessly from high-level strategic thinking to granular, hands-on financial modeling.
- Ability to lead through influence rather than formal authority, driving outcomes and supporting colleagues across the organization.
- Strong relationship-building skills and ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders across functions and levels.
- Experience managing business change in a rapidly evolving environment, both within the company and the wider media industry.
- Able to work in a cross-functional matrix organization and manage deliverables across multiple time zones.
- Works well under pressure, prioritizes effectively, and takes ownership of deliverables.
- Self-motivated, flexible, and a great team player, adaptable to broader team demands.
- Proficient in G-suite; prior exposure to Oracle EPM Advanced is an advantage.
Pay
The expected base salary range for this position is $270,000–$290,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors, including relevant skills, training, experience, and education.
