Duties
- Executive Leadership
- Provide strategic leadership and vision for the organization in partnership with the Board.
- Lead implementation of the organization’s strategic plan and established priorities.
- Foster a culture grounded in Belonging, Accountability, Creativity, and Kindness.
- Ensure policies, practices, and systems support long-term sustainability.
- Promote excellence through thoughtful leadership, management, and development.
- Lead organizational planning, performance improvement, and risk management.
- Development & Community Investment
- Foster a culture of philanthropy throughout the organization.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive annual fundraising strategy.
- Cultivate, solicit, and steward major donor relationships.
- Build relationships with foundations, corporations, civic groups, and partners.
- Partner with the Board of Directors to strengthen philanthropy and donor engagement.
- Expand community investment through annual giving, major gifts, planned giving, etc.
- Identify and pursue new funding opportunities with a focus on recurring opportunities.
- Community Relations
- Serve as primary spokesperson for Open Doors.
- Build strategic partnerships across government, nonprofits, civic organizations, etc.
- Strengthen public awareness and community support of Open Doors' mission.
- Lead advocacy efforts consistent with organizational priorities.
- Maintain productive relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders.
- Board Governance
- Serve as an adviser to the Board of Directors.
- Prepare materials and attend Board meetings.
- Support Board governance, development, and planning.
- Ensure timely communication regarding organizational opportunities and risks.
- People Operations
- Lead, supervise, and coach the core team.
- Build and maintain a high-performing, mission-driven workforce.
- Ensure effective performance management and professional development.
- Oversee human resources policies and organizational development initiatives.
- Ensure appropriate staffing and succession planning.
- Operations & Risk Management
- Provide executive oversight for all programs and operations.
- Ensure uninterrupted delivery of emergency shelter and services.
- Oversee City Contract, Memorandum of Agreements, and Vendor Agreements.
- Manage the organization’s insurance coverage.
- Lead emergency preparedness, crisis response, and coordinate with external agencies.
- Ensure efficient and responsible use of organizational resources.
- Financial Stewardship
- Develop annual operating and project budgets.
- Ensure long-term financial sustainability.
- Monitor financial performance and internal controls.
- Coordinate with account partners, treasurer, and committee.
- Authorize contracts and major expenditures consistent with policy.
- Ensure compliance with grants, contractual requirements, and legal requirements.
- Bachelor's in nonprofit management, business, or public administration, or social work.
- Demonstrated executive or senior leadership experience.
- Proven success securing philanthropic investment through multiple streams.
- Experience managing organizational budgets and financial strategy.
- Experience supervising and developing professional staff.
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to lead through complexity, ambiguity, and change.
