About CASSY
Counseling and Support Services for Youth (CASSY) provides a mental health safety net for over 70,000 students across 37 school campuses in 10 districts in San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties. CASSY supports the social and emotional wellbeing of young people at no cost, eliminating financial, logistical, and insurance barriers.
The Opportunity
Reporting to a community-based Board of Directors, the Executive Director leads both strategic and operational aspects of the organization. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the process for planning, implementing, and evaluating short- and long-range strategy and goals.
- Recruiting, training, and empowering a strong staff team, fostering a positive and healthy organizational culture.
- Sustaining and expanding CASSY's work through thoughtful budget planning and regular evaluation of internal systems, policies, and procedures.
- Overseeing programs and services consistent with the mission, values, and goals of the organization, ensuring ongoing evaluation of best practices and effective systems for outcome tracking and contract compliance.
- Establishing and cultivating partnerships with school districts and other community stakeholders to advance CASSY's mission and expand its reach.
- Developing and implementing a diversified fund development plan, managing funding proposals and reports, and serving as a credible and inspiring presence for CASSY in the community.
- Directing branding and communication strategies to ensure CASSY's visibility among targeted constituencies.
- Partnering with the Board of Directors to provide information needed for strategic decisions, manage fundraising activities, and support board development and recruitment.
Candidate Profile

- A track record of developing and executing multi-year organizational strategies that balance mission integrity with sustainable growth.
- An entrepreneurial instinct to identify and act on emerging opportunities while maintaining focus on the student-centered mission.
- Experience leading clinical or mission-driven teams with a management style that earns trust, restores morale, and motivates high performance without compromising staff wellbeing.
- Strong financial management skills and experience in building and executing diversified fund development strategies.
- Effective relationship-building and partnership management skills, particularly with school district administrators and community leaders.
- A passion for the mission and a background in mental health, education, or a related clinical or human services field.
Compensation and Benefits
