Job description
The Executive Director will build on Land's Sake's strong foundation and guide the organization through its next chapter of impact. Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and execute a strategic vision: Set short- and long-term priorities, translate them into clear goals and work plans, and ensure Land's Sake's story and impact are clearly communicated and understood.
- Lead a fundraising effort: Grow and diversify support, build on an established ~$1M annual goal, and engage board members as active fundraising partners.
- Ensure financial and operational health: Oversee budgeting and financial planning for a ~$3M budget, maintain strong fiscal stewardship, and ensure the right systems and processes are in place.
- Lead, develop, and inspire staff: Supervise and mentor senior staff, foster a culture of collaboration, transparency, and accountability, and champion the people management systems and practices the organization needs to thrive.
- Partner with the Board: Drive effective governance and strategic leadership, prepare planning materials, and support board development and diversification.
- Serve as a passionate ambassador: Build strong relationships with key partners and the community.
Experiences, Competencies, and Personal Qualities
- A champion for Land's Sake's mission and values.
- A nonprofit professional with senior leadership experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role at nonprofit or mission-driven organizations.
- An enthusiastic and capable fundraiser with demonstrated success securing funding from individual and institutional donors.
- A visionary thinker with the ability to implement tactically, holding the big picture and translating it into tangible priorities and plans.
- A thoughtful relationship builder with high emotional intelligence, leading with empathy, listening actively, building trust, and communicating effectively.
- A financially confident operator with sound business judgment, comfortable owning a budget, reading financial reports, and making fiscally responsible decisions.
- A collaborative people manager who builds capacity and fosters teamwork, experienced in hiring and developing talent, managing staff across multiple functional areas, and building strong organizational cultures.
- A hands-on, present, and grounded leader who loves the outdoors, willing and able to roll up their sleeves and work alongside the team, especially during seasonal peaks.
Compensation
This position is salaried, more than $100,000.
