Executive Director
About the role
The Executive Director (ED) is the chief strategist, innovator and ambassador responsible for the overall leadership and management of the Jewish Community Foundation of the West, an organization which exists to enhance charitable giving, facilitate Jewish philanthropy both locally and worldwide, and build permanent financial resources to safeguard and strengthen organizations and community initiatives that serve the Jewish families of Northern California and regional states. The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors and is the person ultimately responsible for the organization’s consistent achievement of its mission, programmatic and financial objectives and its adherence to its core vision.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of the organization's operations, including fundraising, grantmaking, and community engagement.
- Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve the organization's mission and goals.
- Build and maintain relationships with donors, partners, and stakeholders to foster support and collaboration.
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and maintain high ethical standards.
- Represent the organization at various events and meetings, both internally and externally.
- Manage the Board of Directors and ensure effective governance.
- Lead the development and implementation of annual budget and financial plans.
- Oversee the organization's human resources, including recruitment, training, and performance management.
Requirements
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in nonprofit management, preferably in the field of Jewish philanthropy.
- A proven track record of successful fundraising and grantmaking.
- Experience in strategic planning and organizational development.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of Jewish philanthropic issues and trends.
- Master's degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Qualifications

Pay
Salary range: $150,000 - $200,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
