About the role

The Executive Director is a pivotal role, designed to bridge the gap between strategic objectives and operational execution. This position plays a crucial role in overseeing departmental functions, driving compliance, and promoting a culture of excellence and safety across the program.

Responsibilities

  • Executes departmental policies and procedures in accordance with federal, state, and local rules and regulations.
  • Reviews program/facility policies and procedures to ensure they remain consistent with operating plans.
  • Provides leadership and direction to supervisors and direct care staff regarding program planning, development/training, and implementation.
  • Supervises, assists with hiring, and evaluates staff performance, developing measurable objectives for necessary improvements and implementing appropriate corrective action to staff adhering to human resources policies and utilizing Human Resources when necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, staff, and other agency personnel.
  • Collaborates with other managers, administrators, and department heads to ensure cohesive and effective overall facility operations.
  • Develops and implements systems to organize and monitor work activities.
  • Identifies employee training to address career advancement and developmental needs.
  • Demonstrates appropriate use of Safe Crisis Management (SCM) and provides effective supervision to staff regarding the use of SCM.
  • Assists the Vice President of Operations to implement special projects that impact programs across Abraxas (e.g. Fleet Service, Retention, Training).
  • Attends staff meetings and conferences.

Qualifications

  • Masters degree and two (2) years work experience in administration of human services, or
  • Bachelors degree and four (4) years work experience in administration of human services.
  • Ability to self-start, work independently and adhere to timelines on a consistent basis with a minimum of assistance and supervision.

Other Qualifications

  • At least 21 years of age
  • Pre-employment background checks (Criminal, Federal, State, Child Abuse), physical exam, and drug screen.
  • Valid driver's license from employee’s state of residence.
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours such as evenings and weekends to meet clients and family’s needs.
