About the role

Under the direction of the Maintenance Coordinator, the Environmental Services (EVS) Attendant performs cleaning duties to maintain a clean and safe environment across assigned areas, with a focus on clinical spaces and patient care areas. This is a part-time, non-exempt position.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect assigned areas, prioritizing clinical spaces and patient care areas, to maintain a presentable and orderly condition.
• Maintain floors by sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and cleaning carpets per schedule and as needed; strip, wax, and buff/polish hard floor surfaces.
• Wash interior surfaces, including walls, ceilings, windows, glass partitions, and doors, using appropriate supplies and equipment.
• Clean bathrooms, kitchens, lobbies, conference rooms, workspaces, and individual office areas.
• Empty waste receptacles and dispose of refuse; dust and polish furniture.
• Maintain organized and clean storage spaces for cleaning supplies and equipment.
• Perform outside duties such as washing windows/doors, cleaning building exteriors, sweeping walkways, cleaning handrails, door handles, and picking up trash.
• Remove spots from carpets and furniture; clean spills, including bodily fluids, in compliance with OSHA, CDC, HIPAA, and bloodborne pathogen protocols.
• Properly handle and dispose of waste in compliance with safety standards.
• Clean and disinfect restrooms, full kitchens (including microwaves and refrigerators), shower facilities, and drinking fountains per cleaning schedule/checklist.
• Fill paper, soap, and toiletries dispensers in restrooms and designated areas.
• Maintain cleaning logs/checklists for patient care and high-traffic areas.
• Ensure all windows and exterior doors are locked in the evenings.
• Assist with moving furniture and unloading/storing supplies.
• Report maintenance issues (e.g., plumbing leaks, damaged flooring, lighting failures) promptly to the supervisor.
• Assist with emergency preparedness activities, including weather-related events and infectious disease response.
• Maintain a professional appearance and provide courteous interactions with patients, visitors, and staff.
• Participate in annual infection control, safety, and HIPAA training.
• Open and close buildings as requested; provide onsite monitoring for activities outside normal office hours.
• Set up chairs, tables, and equipment for meetings, activities, and events; clean up afterward and restore workspaces to proper layout.
• Be flexible in work scheduling to meet the demands of the position.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• One year of related experience.
• Ability to perform physical labor and follow oral and written instructions.
• Knowledge of commercial cleaning agents, including solvents, disinfectants, detergents, and polishing agents.
• Knowledge of standard custodial practices, procedures, and techniques.
• Knowledge of materials, tools, and equipment used in building custodial work.
• HIPAA training or ability to complete training within 90 days of hire.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and insurable status.
• Successfully pass drug and alcohol testing, motor vehicle, education, character, and criminal background checks.
• Able and willing to travel.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to operate carpet extractors, floor buffers, and various cleaning equipment.
• Knowledge of healthcare/medical-grade disinfectants and cleaning products.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Healthcare cleaning experience.
• Computer proficiency with email, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
• One or more years’ experience working with Native Americans or Native American organizations.
• Ability to safely and effectively operate floor scrubbers, buffers, carpet extractors, vacuums, and pressure washers.
• Preference given to Ponca Tribe of Nebraska members or members of a federally recognized tribe.

Working Environment and Physical Demands

• Physical requirements include carrying/lifting up to 10 pounds frequently, up to 20 pounds regularly, and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Requires visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand-eye coordination, and manual dexterity to operate equipment and perform essential job functions.
• Working conditions are primarily in an office environment with occasional travel to other locations.
• Occasional exposure to wet/humid conditions, high places, fumes, airborne particles, dirt, dust, bloodborne pathogens, medical waste, and cleaning materials.
• Compliance with safety standards and HIPAA requirements when working in medical areas.

Pay

Grade 6 ($15.65 - $24.94 per hour).
