Responsibilities
- Prepare and file court documents
- Understand and navigate court procedures
- Assist with hearing preparation
- Monitor case statuses
- Submit filing fee check requests
Requirements
- High School Diploma
- Prior knowledge of the eviction process preferred
- Legal experience preferred, but not required
- Ability to communicate professionally with clerks, judges, and attorneys
- Understanding/learning eviction law and local jurisdictional requirements
Qualifications
- Proficient in software tools, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and internet-based applications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders
- Identifies and resolves issues in a timely and effective manner
- Works well as a team player and assists others within the department as needed
- Hightly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Counsious with respect to work quality, deadlines, time management, and attendance
- Takes initiative when faced with obstacles by identifying needs and proactively taking action
- Analytical and detail-oriented while working efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Buils professional relationships and establishes rapport with colleagues and clients
- Exhibits a strong work ethic and adaptability in response to change
Skills
- Paralegal support to attorneys and the Eviction Department
- Preparing, serving, and monitoring legal notices
- Preparing, filing, and serving summons and complaints
- Communicating with clients regarding litigation matters via email and phone
- Managing and updating client case management systems
- Verifying property addresses using foreclosure documents
- Reviewing leases and ledgers, and preparing rent demands
- Handling incoming phone calls from defendants, clients, court clerks, and sheriffs
