Eviction Prevention Coordinator
About the role
Hamilton Families’ Housing Services program helps prevent families from becoming homeless and helps those experiencing homelessness move as quickly as possible into permanent housing. The program assists families to secure permanent housing through housing search assistance, move-in financial assistance, homelessness prevention, rent subsidies, and home-based case management.
The Eviction Prevention Coordinator provides general oversight to the Homelessness Prevention programs and ensures that all referrals are assessed in a timely manner for homelessness prevention and rental subsidy programs. The coordinator approves families for the program, ensures that all releases and documentation are complete and accurate, and when necessary, meets families to explain program decisions. The coordinator also ensures that the Desk Guide is adhered to by all HPA Staff, facilitates exit planning meetings with other HF programs, and serves as primary liaison to Coordinated Entry Access Points as well as other community partners.
Responsibilities
- In coordination with the Navigation and Eviction Prevention Manager, oversee and ensure the ongoing development and daily operation of the Homelessness Assistance Programs.
- Assist in the creation and implementation of new and innovative programming and support services to meet the ongoing and emerging needs of families who are homeless and at-risk of homelessness.
- Work closely with the Real Estate and Eviction Prevention Manager on various organizational activities and special projects.
- Directly supervise Homelessness Prevention Specialist (Case Manager) staff, including conducting regular supervision meetings, maintaining and submitting employee records, conducting performance reviews, ensuring staff accountability for meeting minimum performance goals, and mentoring and coaching case management staff.
- Lead recruitment, hiring, and training efforts of services staff within the department, consistent with HF personnel policies and procedures.
- Develop and conduct new-hire onboarding and ongoing training for housing services program staff based on program needs.
- In collaboration with the Real Estate and Eviction Prevention Manager, provide appropriate solutions to challenging participant/service issues and guide staff to handle similar situations in the future.
- Ensure the program maintains accurate records, files, correspondence, and data collection, and responds to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain positive participant relations and develop a work environment focused on customer service, diversity, respect, and dignity.
- Conduct database and participant hard file audits, providing quality assurance oversight within multiple databases such as Bitfocus/HMIS, Calworks HSP Launchpad, Dataverse, Bay Area Community Services, and Salesforce.
- Assist the Manager of Eviction Prevention/Real Estate in creating streamlined processes for both programs to ensure seamless delivery of services.
- Facilitate regular department and program coordination meetings.
- Attend other programs, organizational, and outside community meetings as assigned.
- Facilitate and monitor the recruitment and referral process for the HPA ERAP program, establishing a plan to track, manage, and report on ongoing referrals.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Two years of professional experience in the human services or related field, with demonstrated ability to exercise appropriate authority and sound judgment.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, a public health field, and/or in a management field such as public or non-profit administration preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with demanding deadlines, superior organizational abilities, and the demonstrated ability to maintain a quality workplace in a fast-paced and changing environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, etc.).
- Ability to coordinate, implement, supervise, and evaluate program activities and diverse staff.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of individuals and groups and provide supervision in a compassionate and innovative way.
- Familiarity with the principles, practices, and techniques of local, state, and federal contract management; contract negotiation, monitoring, and evaluation; and supervision.
- Knowledge of Trauma-Informed Care and Harm Reduction philosophies in working with homeless and at-risk populations.
- Previous experience working with homeless populations and families is preferred.
- Knowledge of housing and community resources in the Bay Area is a plus.
- Highly organized; ability to work independently and as an effective and collaborative member of a team.
- Able to make regular entries, run reports, and maintain a CRM client database.
- Good meeting facilitation skills.
- Bilingual English/Spanish language capacity desired.
- Essential job functions include using a telephone, working at a standard computer terminal; ability to follow reasonable ergonomic accommodations; sit and stand for long intervals; reach, bend, lift, and carry up to 40 pounds; and walk up and down stairs several times a day.
- Criminal background check, fingerprint imaging, TB (Tuberculosis) clearance, and documentation required post offer.

Pay
Salary Range: $70,304.00 (Bilingual Premium for Spanish preferred)
Schedule
Full-time, Exempt. Monday–Friday, 9:00am–5:30pm
