About the role
Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota seeks a Prevention Specialist to support households by providing housing stability-focused case management services.
Responsibilities
- Supporting households by providing housing stability-focused case management services related to meeting the housing needs of program participants and preventing episodes of homelessness.
- Providing services such as problem-solving, crisis intervention, education on tenant rights and responsibilities, mediation services, tenancy supports, and coordinating with landlords.
- Being the first line of contact for households calling the agency inquiring about Housing Services, resources, referrals, crisis intervention, and problem solving.
Requirements
- At least 2 years or more recent experience working with community residents facing critical hardships.
- Micrsoft Office Suite proficiency required.
- Able to maintain confidentiality of all discussions and records.
- Resourceful, patient, and sensitive to the needs of staff, children, and families.
- Culturally sensitive to work in a diverse community.
- Some transportation required for employment.
- Lived experience welcome.
- Experience, ability, and commitment to working with sexual minority and culturally diverse staff, participants, and community.
- Knowledge of culturally based world-view and problem-solving practices individuals and families in urban neighborhoods impacted by crime, poverty, and racial inequity.
Qualifications
- The successful candidate must be cleared by a Bureau of Criminal Affairs (BCA) background study and have a drivers’ license; a Motor Vehicle Check (MVR) is required.
