About the role
The position of a CDL Operator undertakes various transporting duties and responsibilities include transporting machinery or work tools to client work sites. A CLD Operator will perform work as required to maximize the quality of the Company while maintaining the specified expectations of the client and ensure safe working environment while performing work and will conduct all Company business in accordance with Company policies and procedures and maintain professionalism throughout all business dealings, both internally and externally.
Responsibilities
- Inspect truck and trailer for defects and safe operating conditions; before, during and after each trip.
- Submit drivers logs as required and written reports on the condition of the truck/trailer at the end of each trip or tour of duty as necessary.
- Check shipping documents to determine the nature of the load and verify for accuracy.
- Install and remove tire chains as required by weather conditions.
- Drive truck/trailer to and from designated destinations following all local, state and DOT laws and rules.
- Apply knowledge of commercial driving and skills in maneuvering vehicle at varying speeds in difficult situations, such as heavy traffic, inclement weather.
- Report all accidents and incidents involving drivers or company equipment according to company procedures and policies.
- Report highway safety hazards noted in route.
- Promptly report any delays due to breakdowns, weather or traffic conditions or other emergencies, or in the event of irregularities relating to pick up or delivery of cargo.
- Safely and legally operate commercial motor vehicle(s).
- Follow all Company Safety, Quality Control/ Quality Assurance procedures, DOT and OSHA guidelines.
- Maintain poise and focus under time constraint and adverse conditions.
- Attend and complete trainings as required by the Company and client.
- Pass all required drug/alcohol testing and background requirements.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent and minimum of 5 years’ driving DOT regulated vehicles.
- Must hold a class “A” or “B” driver’s license and a clean MVR.
- Must have previous commercial driving experience or have graduated from an accredited commercial driving school.
- Must have ability to read maps, road signs, maintain record of duty status, etc.
- Must have knowledge of DOT regulations governing safe driving, hours of service, inspection and maintenance.
- Strong understanding of oil & gas industry and required knowledge of Quality System standards.
- Able to establish priorities, work independently and proceed with objectives without supervision.
