About the Role

The Clemson University School of Architecture, Art, and Construction Science invites highly qualified candidates to fill temporary faculty opportunities at the Clemson Design Center in Charleston, South Carolina. This posting covers part-time and/or temporary full-time instructional roles that arise as needed. Courses may be offered in spring, summer, and/or fall terms across one or more modalities and locations, with start dates varying according to departmental teaching needs.

Responsibilities

• Teach one or more courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels in areas including, but not limited to:
  • Design Studios
  • Technical and Theoretical Seminars
  • Representation and Visualization
  • Structures and Building Systems
  • Professional Practice
  • Topical Electives
  • Historic Preservation
• Full-time positions: Teach an undergraduate or graduate design studio and a 3-credit course in your area of expertise each semester.
• Part-time positions: Teach either an undergraduate or graduate design studio or a 3-credit course each semester.
• Actively participate in the life of the school and provide service to the institution.

About the College of Architecture, Art and Construction (CAAC)

The newly formed College of Architecture, Art and Construction (CAAC) includes the School of Architecture, the Department of Art, and the Nieri Department of Construction, Development, and Planning. The college offers five undergraduate majors and ten graduate programs, along with nine centers and institutes, preparing over 900 undergraduates and 300 graduate students to transform, enhance, and sustain the built environment. Students combine practical knowledge with hands-on experiential learning supported by the outdoor Experiential Learning Yard and the Fluid Campus® in Genoa, Italy; Barcelona, Spain; and Charleston, South Carolina.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in architecture, urban design, or other related professional fields.
• Prior teaching and/or professional design experience.
• Preferred: Evidence of research and/or creative work related to design and contemporary practice, along with expertise aligned with a departmental program area.
