Summary
The College of Education at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) will establish and maintain a pool of Lecturers in the Department of Teaching and Learning from which future appointments of temporary, non-tenure track positions will be made. Appointments are part-time (less than 50% time) and will be made semester-by-semester. Qualified applicants will be placed in the department pool and will be considered for part-time departmental needs to teach courses for programs in the Department of Teaching and Learning.
Essential Functions
- Teach no more than 9 credit hours per semester.
- Topics areas to be taught may include: Schools, Society, and Diversity; Children’s Literature; Educational Psychology; Inclusive Education Foundations; Literacy, Social Studies, Science, and Mathematics Methods and Content Courses; Child Development; Family Diversity; Early Childhood Center Administration; Child-Centered Inclusive Instruction; Assessment; Universal Design for Learning; Classroom Management; Health and PE for Elem Teachers; Arts Integration for Elem Teachers; Collaboration and Co-Teaching; Gifted and Talented Education; Special Education; Multisensory Education; Language Acquisition; English Second Language for Educators; Field Experience and Practicum.
- Follow posted syllabus and Canvas content.
- Create highly engaging learning experiences related to course outcomes.
- Gather and assess evidence of student learning in accordance with course expectations.
- Use effective distance and online learning methods.
- Respond to student learning needs in a timely manner.
- Implement culturally responsive practices.
Faculty Special Instructions to Applicants
- This is an open/ongoing lecturer pool. Applications will be reviewed on a semester-by-semester basis as business needs arise.

Qualifications
- A Master's Degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Special Education or closely related field is required.
- Professional experience in the specific course content area is required.
- Experience working directly with children in a classroom setting is required.
- The preferred candidate will have a terminal degree (e.g., PhD, EdD, JD).
- Current engagement in professional development activities in the specific course content area is highly desirable.
