Job Summary
The Events & Promotions Specialist assists the Promotions & Events Manager, as well as the rest of the marketing team in creating, promoting & executing various public and private events, both on and off Hosier Park Property. DIRECTLY SUPERVISES: None
What You Will Need
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Proficient in English verbal, written, and understanding with the ability to communicate one-on-one and to groups to explain policies and procedures and to persuade others to accept or adopt a specific opinion or action while effectively presenting information and/or convincing argument to executives.
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing and/or Entertainment based field preferred or equivalent in professional experience required.
- Event planning, VIP Services and general hosting experience preferred.
- Must have an outgoing, energetic, and enthusiastic attitude.
- Must be comfortable to initiate conversations and create a fun environment for guests and maintain an effective working relationship with all other departments.
- Flexible working various shifts, weekends, holidays, and long hours if applicable.
What You Will Need (Additional Requirements)
- Must be able to lift/ push up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to push, pull, reach, bend, stoop, twist, reach, kneel repetitively, balance when stocking/storing, and maneuvering around the work area.
- Will be required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
- Specific vision abilities such as close, distance, color, depth and ability to adjust focus.
- Able to ascend and descend stairs and maintain equilibrium for an extended period.
- Must be able to work from a standing position and/or walking motion for extended period (entire shift) and mobility to move easily around.
- Able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Able to write simple correspondence.
- Able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Able to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a license from the Indiana Gaming Commission and Indiana Horse Racing Commission.
- Will require access to all general areas of the gaming and racing facility, back-of-house areas and access to patron management and internal controls for Marketing.
