Event Rigging Manager - Mandalay Bay

This above-property leadership role ensures the safe, compliant execution of rigging operations across Encore-approved venues. The Rigging Manager acts as the primary liaison between production teams, clients, and sales, overseeing rigging designs, workforce planning, and equipment needs while maintaining adherence to Encore’s standard operating procedures.

Responsibilities

• Supervise riggers on show sites based on event size and complexity.
• Identify staffing needs, support recruiting, and develop a pool of part-time riggers for local and regional assignments.
• Assist in training, career development, and performance management for rigging team members, including union workforce in jurisdictional markets.
• Provide rigging safety compliance information and perform load calculations for all shows and events.
• Approve production loads, provide approved rigging plots with load calculations and point locations to on-site riggers.
• Utilize CAD and related software to analyze weight distribution of suspended loads.
• Ensure compliance with Encore’s working-at-height program and escalate safety concerns to supervisors.
• Support annual certification teams for rigging points, truss, and hoist inspections.
• Advise venue teams on rigging equipment specifications to meet event needs.
• Review and implement industry-accepted technical and safety standards.
• Define workforce and equipment requirements for rigging events, communicating needs via equipment request forms and email.
• Advise Regional Equipment Manager on gear sourcing as needed.
• Participate in labor, operations, and demand planning calls within assigned markets.
• Attend production site visits to ensure safety and efficiency.
• Advise sales, operations, project management, and external teams on rigging best practices, safety requirements, and design feasibility.
• Collaborate with venue leadership on SOP communication and adherence.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent; Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Technical Theatre or related field preferred.
• 4+ years of rigging experience in entertainment, theatrical, or production environments, including work with Encore’s rigging team.
• Ability to interpret structural drawings for rigging-relevant information.
• 2+ years managing rigging teams, preferably teams of 10+ riggers.
• ETCP Arena or Theatre certification preferred (must obtain within timeline specified by Senior Rigging Management).
• Lift operation experience with current certification.
• High rigging with harness experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of drafting and load calculation software (Vectorworks and Production Assist preferred).
• Professional communication skills with customers and leadership teams.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.

Pay

Salary range: $70,371.00 - $91,482.00. Compensation is based on qualifications, location, relevant experience, and skills. Some positions may be eligible for overtime, bonuses, or incentives.
