Event Producer (Contractual)

Lyzr AI · Jersey City, NJ · 1 wk ago
Internship

About the role

Lyzr builds AI agents for big enterprises such as banks, insurers, and companies with complex procurement processes. The events team creates executive dinners, hackathons, conference takeovers, and side events across NYC, Europe, and the Middle East, building each experience from zero to one. As an Event Producer, you will start with a blank Google Doc, a tight budget, and a vibe, and deliver events that people still talk about a week later.

Responsibilities

  • Venue scouting – find and secure venues, especially free or partner‑sponsored spaces offered by enterprises, cloud providers, VCs, accelerators, and innovation hubs; maintain a growing go‑to list of venues in NYC and beyond and match each to the event’s vibe, size, and audience.
  • Experience design (zero‑to‑one) – own the concept for each event, including theme, look and feel, guest flow, and big moments; design creative touches that inspire social sharing; ensure guests leave with a story to tell.
  • Merch and swag – dream up, source, and produce merchandise people will actually wear and use; manage vendors, timelines, and shipping for on‑time delivery.
  • Pricing and negotiations – source and manage vendors for catering, AV, print, florals, decor, merch, and other needs; negotiate pricing, perks, and terms; build and track budgets to avoid surprises.
  • Event day – build run‑of‑shows, production timelines, and checklists; ensure setup is ready before guests arrive; manage vendors, stage cues, and teardown; stay calm and fix problems before anyone notices.

Requirements

  • Proven experience producing events, activations, pop‑ups, parties, or shoots, with photos to prove it.
  • Scrappy and resourceful; able to secure great venues for free or low cost.
  • Strong negotiation skills and enjoyment of the process.
  • A distinct aesthetic point of view; able to articulate references from design, hospitality, fashion, or art.
  • Obsessive attention to detail – lighting temperature, playlist timing, place‑card spelling, etc.
  • Ability to stay cool under pressure and make quick decisions.
  • Self‑starter who gets things done without needing reminders.

Qualifications

  • Existing relationships with NYC venues, VCs, or startup programs.
  • Experience working at tech conferences such as re:Invent or Web Summit.
  • Background in design, set‑design, or hospitality.
  • Knowledge of a merch vendor who can deliver on short notice.

Schedule

20 hours per week, including evening events; based in NYC with in‑person events in NYC and Jersey City, occasional travel, and otherwise remote work.
