Event Manager

Angel · Provo, UT · 3 wk ago
ManagementFull-time

About the role

The Event Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing all aspects of Angel Studios events — from initial concept through flawless execution. This role sits at the intersection of strategy, creativity, and logistics, bringing our brand to life through memorable experiences for internal teams, partners, and the communities we serve.

Responsibilities

  • Own the full event lifecycle: define goals, build timelines, manage budgets, and lead execution from start to finish
  • Source, evaluate, and select venues that align with event objectives and brand standards
  • Manage all on-site logistics including seating arrangements, décor, catering, AV, and guest experience
  • Negotiate contracts and solicit competitive bids from vendors, balancing cost efficiency with quality of service
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, venues, and external partners
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with internal teams (marketing, creative, comms, etc.) to align events with broader company initiatives
  • Develop detailed run-of-show documents and contingency plans to ensure smooth execution
  • Track event budgets, reconcile expenses, and provide post-event reporting and learnings
  • Manage event staff, volunteers, or temporary contractors as needed

Requirements

  • Amplify light in every action.
  • As the owner of your outcomes, you are empowered to break down silos and coordinate with any and all people you need in order to reach your goals. You are ultimately responsible for achieving the outcomes while also using resources wisely - whether that be money, people, or time.
  • Know your customer - it might be our viewers, investors, creators, or internal Angel Teams. Ensure you understand your customer and are providing what THEY need and not just what you want to build.
  • You OWN the success of your team members, including hiring, onboarding, goals, performance management, raises, terminations, etc.
  • Hold team members accountable to their goals - help them grow and make the most of the resources they bring. Document their performance for reviews. Create opportunities for team members to take initiative and ownership. Give consistent and timely candid feedback with compassion - your team members need to know where they stand at all times. If you find yourself doubting a team member, address it swiftly with actionable feedback.
  • Contributes in a way that moves the Angel mission forward and exemplifies the team qualities required for working at Angel. When faced with roadblocks, mistakes or unforeseen circumstances, consistently and proactively find creative solutions and/or break down barriers to handle the challenge or complication. (Focus is on creating/building/testing/learning/resolution rather than getting stuck and identifying or placing blame).

Skills

  • Proven ability to manage multiple events simultaneously under tight deadlines
  • Strong vendor negotiation skills and contract management experience
  • Exceptional organizational skills and sharp attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to stay calm, adaptable, and solutions-focused when things don't go as planned
  • Proficiency in project management tools (Asana, Monday.com, etc.) and standard office software

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in event planning or event management (corporate, entertainment, or live events experience a plus)
  • Bachelor's degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Communications, Marketing, or a related field
  • Familiarity with Angel, the Angel Guild, and our body of work (films, series, and other projects)
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

Work Environment

When in the main office, expect a comfortable, air-conditioned work environment. Team members are issued their own desks, but the office is an open, shared space and can be fast-paced and occasionally noisy.

Must be able to stand or sit at a desk for long periods of time.

Schedule

Position type and expected hours of work: Regular full-time, 40 hours per week. Travel required: Out-of-state travel is anticipated for this position.
