Event & Strike Team (Part-Time)
About the role
Southside Blooms is a nonprofit flower shop that converts vacant lots into urban flower farms, providing jobs for at-risk youth while promoting sustainability, community empowerment, and creativity.
Responsibilities
- Aid in event logistics by packing, transporting, setting up, and striking floral installations, displays, and materials.
- Ensure timely, professional, and efficient event execution according to established timelines and quality standards.
- Operate company vehicles to transport flowers, supplies, and team members to and from event sites (requires a valid driver’s license).
- Support on-site floral designers and coordinators with tasks during events.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workspaces, event materials, and vehicles.
- Represent Southside Blooms professionally and courteously at all times when interfacing with clients, vendors, and community members.
- Absorb inventory after events as part of the team.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (required).
- Ability to work overnights and weekends, with flexibility for varying event schedules.
- Comfortable with physical work including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for extended periods, and working indoors/outdoors.
- Strong attention to detail, punctuality, and a proactive attitude.
- Experience in events, floral work, or logistics is a plus but not required.
- Ability to take direction and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Passion for community development and alignment with Southside Blooms' mission.
