Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed and accurate quantity takeoffs, site evaluations, and cost estimates for asphalt paving, concrete construction, maintenance, and restoration projects.
- Review construction drawings, specifications, addenda, and project documents to prepare competitive estimates.
- Present estimates and proposals to management, sales teams, and clients.
- Conduct site visits, project walks, and attend pre-bid meetings to evaluate project scope and conditions.
- Prepare comprehensive project proposals, including detailed site maps and supporting documentation.
- Oversee projects from contract award through completion.
- Develop and maintain project schedules while coordinating with subcontractors, suppliers, field teams, and clients.
- Define subcontractor scope of work and ensure compliance with project specifications.
- Monitor project progress, budgets, schedules, and quality standards.
- Prepare, price, and manage change orders, ensuring written approval before work begins.
- Coincide with engineers, inspectors, owners, and field personnel to resolve project issues.
- Aid with purchasing activities to ensure quality materials are procured at competitive prices.
- Support accounts receivable and collections to ensure timely project payments.
Required Qualifications
- Current, established client base within the asphalt and concrete construction industry.
- Minimum 5 years of estimating and sales experience in asphalt, concrete, or heavy civil construction.
- Strong relationships with asphalt and concrete customers.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects.
- Strong mathematical aptitude with knowledge of geometry and construction calculations.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to prioritize workload and consistently meet deadlines.
- High level of professionalism, accountability, and dependability.
Preferred Qualifications
- Project management experience within the construction industry.
- Experience in asphalt paving, concrete construction, or site development.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Basic knowledge of ADA accessibility standards.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform field inspections and job walks throughout the year.
- Frequent standing, walking, sitting, reaching, and computer use.
- Ability to drive to project sites as required.
- Occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
