About the role

New Program Aides are authorized to be hired at an advanced starting step of Step D ($18.12) per hour. ESS Program Aides work August through June months only.

Responsibilities

  • Assists students, individually or in small groups, with lesson assignments
  • Assists the ESS Site Lead in responding to inquiries from a variety of sources
  • Affords support in the implementation of instructional programs, lesson plans, and enrichment activities
  • Coordinates and/or oversees individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings
  • Distributes crafts and/or play materials
  • Serves nutritious snacks
  • Maintains program equipment and work areas
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Fifty (50) hours of experience working with children
  • High School education (High School Diploma preferred)
  • Completion of two years of higher education study OR possession of an Associate's or higher level degree, OR pass assessment that demonstrates knowledge of and the ability to assist in teaching reading, writing, and mathematics
  • Valid First Aid and CPR Certificate issued by an authorized agency

Qualifications

  • Experience: Fifty (50) hours of experience working with children
  • Education: High School education (High School Diploma preferred)
  • Equivalency: Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school and fifty (50) hours of experience working with children in an organized setting
  • Knowledge: Basic math, basic recordkeeping methods and procedures, behavior management and motivation techniques, child development principles and practices, first aid and CPR, health and safety practices and procedures, operating standard office equipment including pertinent software applications, safety practices, and operating equipment using defined methods
  • Skills: Adapt to changing work priorities, communicate with diverse groups, maintain confidentiality, work as part of a team, analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action, collate data, use job-related equipment, identify issues and create action plans, operate equipment using defined methods, problem solving with data frequently requires independent interpretation of guidelines, schedule a number of activities, meetings, and/or events, understand multi-step written and oral instructions, work with a variety of data, utilize job-related equipment, work with a wide diversity of individuals, work with data utilizing defined but different processes

Pay

The typical hours for this position are 2:00 pm - 5:30 pm M/W/TH/F and Tuesdays 12:45 pm-5:30 pm. The position pays $18.12/hour.

Schedule

The position is non-benefited and works 16.25 afternoon hours per week, Monday through Friday.
