ERP Specialist

About the role

This grant-funded position involves performing para-professional nursing work at an assigned Tuberculosis Health Clinic within the Public Health Department. The role includes administering appropriate tuberculosis medication and immunization, collecting blood samples for laboratory testing, conducting physical assessments, providing education, and managing medical supplies.

Responsibilities

• Obtains patient vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, height, and weight
• Performs various screening and testing, including hearing and vision tests, Mantoux tests, parasite tests, pregnancy tests, UA’s, and QuantiFERON TB Test
• Administers appropriate immunizations to adults and children including those for tuberculosis, measles, rubella, and various diseases
• Issues various medications to patients and provides counseling regarding possible side effects
• Makes home visits to assess the client's physical and mental status to draw blood, provide TB screening, and provide DOT & DOPT
• Transports patients to Public Health Clinic and Tuberculosis Hospitals in Tyler and San Antonio, Texas
• Ensures adequate levels of medical supplies are maintained at assigned clinic
• Provides basic education to families regarding tuberculosis
• Attends and participates in professional group meetings
• Stays abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of nursing, tuberculosis, and bioterrorism
• Captures, labels, and packages blood specimen samples and sputum samples for delivery to the laboratory
• Participates in contact investigations when interviewing new suspects and cases by obtaining names and contact information
• Affords assistance with field screenings for high-risk individuals
• Participates in tuberculosis presentations for other medical staff and community
• Documents all interactions with patients, patient family members, and contacts
• Provides instruction and clarification for all interpreters and ATT Language Line Staff
• Provides general health services to the public including scheduling and reminding patients of appointments
• Affords assistance with all clinical and outreach activities

Requirements

• To apply, must have High School Diploma, GED or higher education
• To apply, must have valid LVN license (must note your license # in the license field)
• To apply, must have a valid Driver License
