Responsibilities
- Ensure that basic principles of crisis intervention underlie service delivery.
- Assure immediate and easy access to assistance.
- View crises in systems terms, involving significant others or community safety net providers when appropriate.
- Focus on the present, reducing stress and facilitating referrals to meet basic needs.
- Utilize medication as a necessary strategy to reduce stress.
- Engage in active intervention, including advocacy, supportive guidance, and identifying adaptive responses.
- Restore clients to a higher level of self-sufficiency.
- Honor requests for consultation on non-Ozark Center clients at the emergency room.
- Provide consultative services for these hospital patients and assist with depositions and referrals.
- Be knowledgeable in involuntary detention laws and procedures, consulting with law enforcement, CBHLs, and ACI teams.
- Participate in staff meetings of all services offered under the auspices of this program.
- Report to and perform duties assigned by the Crisis Services Supervisor and/or Assistant Director of Crisis Services.
- Work under stressful conditions and deal with irate individuals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A graduate of an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in social work, special education, psychology, counseling, or a related behavioral health field.
- A clinical internship of at least four (4) months duration, with a full year of internship preferred.
- At least one (1) year of experience in assessment and crisis intervention interviewing/assessment skills.
