ERE Mobile Counselor

Responsibilities

• Ensure that basic principles of crisis intervention underlie service delivery.
• Assure immediate and easy access to assistance.
• View crises in systems terms, involving significant others or community safety net providers when appropriate.
• Focus on the present, reducing stress and facilitating referrals to meet basic needs.
• Utilize medication as a necessary strategy to reduce stress.
• Engage in active intervention, including advocacy, supportive guidance, and identifying adaptive responses.
• Restore clients to a higher level of self-sufficiency.
• Honor requests for consultation on non-Ozark Center clients at the emergency room.
• Provide consultative services for these hospital patients and assist with depositions and referrals.
• Be knowledgeable in involuntary detention laws and procedures, consulting with law enforcement, CBHLs, and ACI teams.
• Participate in staff meetings of all services offered under the auspices of this program.
• Report to and perform duties assigned by the Crisis Services Supervisor and/or Assistant Director of Crisis Services.
• Work under stressful conditions and deal with irate individuals.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• A graduate of an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in social work, special education, psychology, counseling, or a related behavioral health field.
• A clinical internship of at least four (4) months duration, with a full year of internship preferred.
• At least one (1) year of experience in assessment and crisis intervention interviewing/assessment skills.
