About the Role

The ER Registrar manages patient intake and registration in the Emergency Department, ensuring accurate documentation, insurance verification, and confidentiality. They greet patients, collect and verify personal, insurance, and medical information, and obtain necessary signatures and consents. The role includes verifying insurance coverage, explaining billing obligations, and assisting with insurance questions. The registrar documents all interactions, places patient identifiers, and communicates with clinical staff about patient arrivals and emergencies. They support efficient department operations by maintaining accurate records and following protocols.

Requirements

• Post-secondary education in healthcare administration preferred.
• 0-2 years' experience in healthcare settings or customer service.
• Strong communication, customer service, and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of insurance verification, medical terminology, and electronic health records.
• Ability to handle sensitive information professionally and remain calm in high-stress situations.
