About the role

The ER Registrar manages patient intake and registration in the Emergency Department, ensuring accurate documentation, insurance verification, and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and families professionally, register for emergency services, and verify personal, insurance, and medical information.
• Obtain consent signatures, explain authorization forms, and verify insurance coverage and eligibility.
• Collect co-pays or deductibles and assist with insurance-related inquiries.
• Document patient details, place identification armbands, and notify departments of patient arrivals or delays.
• Maintain communication during emergency situations and follow department policies.
• Support efficient operations by compiling paperwork and ensuring proper patient identification.

Requirements

• Post-secondary education preferred.
• 0-2 years of healthcare or customer service experience.
• Strong communication and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of insurance verification and EHR systems.
• Ability to handle sensitive information and stay calm under pressure.
• Work effectively with patients and teams.
