*ER Registered Nurse*-Full-Time/Sign On

About the Role

Rivers Health is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse for the Emergency Services department. This role involves delivering high-quality patient care, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and contributing to continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Performs initial assessment of patients and formulates a plan of care and nursing diagnosis based on the assessment.
• Revises and updates plan of care through continuous monitoring and evaluation of the patient.
• Performs nursing care in a safe and timely manner according to unit-specific proficiencies, hospital policies, and procedures.
• Accurate documentation of care provided.
• Provides patient education and discharge planning in collaboration with other disciplines.
• Delegates patient care duties according to the proficiency level of team members while retaining accountability for duties delegated.
• Assists in the education and staff development of professional and nonprofessional personnel, providing technical supervision on the unit.
• Serves as a preceptor to new employees.
• Continually evaluates care being delivered and strives to increase quality and efficiency through the hospital-wide, interdisciplinary CQI process.
• Attends meetings as assigned and keeps leadership apprised of special concerns regarding quality, cost-effective care, and risk management issues.
• Utilizes standards of national specialty organizations and takes responsibility for specific projects ensuring departmental compliance with environment of care, management of information, patient care, and infection control standards.
• Reports structural and/or equipment damage, requests maintenance repairs, and communicates actions to the Unit Coordinator.
• Practices positive customer relations techniques and respects patient privacy rights.
• Maintains emergency drugs, equipment, and supplies, and assists with unit cleanliness.
• Attends to the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of patients and their families.
• Works collaboratively with team members to create an open and honest dialogue.
• Attends unit meetings and educational offerings, maintaining a minimum of 24 contact hours annually.
• Maintains ACLS and PALS certifications.
• Safeguards medications and narcotics.
• Participates in developing and evaluating annual unit goals and objectives.
• Administers medications safely with appropriate monitoring and completes all annual competencies for assigned areas.
• Complies with corporate policies, departmental policies, and the personnel employee handbook.
• Must be able to cross-train to other units.
• Demonstrates excellence in customer service skills and fosters an atmosphere of teamwork and collaboration.
• Participates in quality improvement activities, including serving on quality improvement teams.
