Equipment Servicer-General Services

About the role

The Equipment Servicer performs routine maintenance and minor repairs on motor vehicles and related power equipment, including heavy duty equipment. This position requires close supervision and is part of Metro General Services, which supports other Metro departments.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on motor vehicles and equipment.
• Inspect and add fluids to vehicles and equipment and lubricate all vehicles and equipment.
• Change oil and filters and repair tires.
• Clean and wash vehicles, equipment, motors and chassis.
• Refer any unusual or non-routine maintenance work to appropriate personnel.
• Document maintenance and repair in the fleet management system.
• Keep work area clean and orderly.
• Park and deliver motor vehicles and equipment.
• Clean shop and work areas and care for tools.
• Maintain repair and maintenance logs and records.
• May be required to communicate directly with fleet coordinators.

Requirements

• Eighth Grade education and verifiable work experience performing routine maintenance on motor vehicles and/or equipment.
• Licenses Required: Valid Driver License.

Qualifications

• Experience working with gasoline and diesel engine components.
• Experience with chassis and vehicle parts and their lubrication requirements.
• Experience with the various weights of oils, grease and lubricants using hand and air tools.
• Experience using a tire changer, air gun, motor vehicle, car lift, safety equipment and related tools and equipment.
