About the Role
This position involves the safe and efficient diagnosis, adjustment, and repair of plant equipment. Operate one or several types of equipment including an off-road heavy-duty truck, water truck, quarry truck, and stock truck. Training will be provided in this position and other areas of the aggregate production facility to widen opportunities and experience.
Responsibilities
- Dismantle and reassemble heavy plant components using hoists and hand tools.
- Load and move dirt, rocks, equipment, or other materials using trucks, crawler tractors, power cranes, shovels, graders, or related equipment, including stone crushers, screens, and conveyors.
- Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defects.
- Repair and replace damaged or worn parts.
- Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications.
- Examine parts for damage or excessive wear using micrometers and gauges.
- Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, changing filters, taking oil samples, and lubricating equipment and machinery.
- Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Environmental, Health & Safety Manual.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Mechanically inclined; previous mining experience preferred but not necessary.
- Ability to promote and participate in team environment concepts.
- Interact professionally with vendors, plant employees, and different levels of management.
- Maintain a current driver's license.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Self-motivation and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Available to work extended hours throughout the year, including nights and weekends when necessary; opportunities for overtime.
- High regard for safety standards.
- Travel may be required.
Physical Requirements
- Drive a 40, 50, or 60-ton truck, articulated stock truck, or water truck for extended periods.
- Frequently crawl, kneel, bend, and reach with hands and arms above shoulders.
- Climb a vertical ladder into the vehicle.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
Pay
$23.50-$27.50 an hour
