Equipment Operator I - Streets
Description
Safely performs mowing and vegetation control along streets, right-of-way, medians, and drainage areas.
- Trims around guardrails, signs, sidewalks, drainage structures, fences, and other obstacles.
- Maintains road shoulders and clears vegetation to ensure proper visibility and safe traffic flow.
- Inspects, clears, and maintains ditches, culverts, and drainage structures to ensure proper stormwater flow.
- Assists with pothole repair, asphalt patching, and minor roadway surface repairs.
- Assists with street signage installation and repair, traffic control setup, and barricade placement.
- Performs debris removal from streets, right-of-way, and public properties.
- Assists with storm cleanup, emergency response, and special event preparation.
Essential Job Functions
Operates light and medium-duty equipment including tractors, mowers, loaders, dump trucks, and utility vehicles.
- Safely hauls materials such as dirt, gravel, asphalt, and construction supplies.
- Performs routine cleaning, inspection, and preventive maintenance of assigned equipment.
- Accurately enters daily work activities, time worked, equipment usage, materials utilized, and other required documentation into OpenGov.
- Accurately maintains your timesheet and leave requests in NeoGov daily.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Education or equivalent ;and One year of experience; or Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
- Valid Driver’s License

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:
- Operation and maintenance of all equipment utilized in the performance of the essential functions of the job.
- Methods of concrete finish work, black top construction, and other roadway maintenance and repair techniques.
- General landscape practices and planting techniques.
- Principles and practices of grounds maintenance and landscape architecture.
- Methods of ROW Maintenance.
Mental And Physical Abilities
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, pesticide labels, operation and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and so forth.
- Understand and carry out oral and written instructions, giving close attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Working Conditions
- Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions such as heat, rain and cold, work near moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, work near moving mechanical parts, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
