Schedule
Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (weekends as needed). Winter on-call overtime expected for snow and ice operations.
About the role
In your first two years, you'll work in the Environmental Services Division performing recycling collection duties. After that, you'll rotate through other divisions such as Streets, Forestry, and Parks Maintenance, gaining experience with a wide range of equipment and public service tasks.
Responsibilities
- Environmental Services Division:
- Operate recycling and yard waste collection vehicles
- Safely load/unload containers and respond to curbside service issues
- Drive to material recovery or compost facilities
- Streets Division:
- Operate dump trucks, snow plows, salters, and other heavy equipment
- Perform street repairs, snow removal, drainage maintenance, and more
- Forestry & Parks Maintenance:
- Trim, plant, and remove trees
- Maintain parks, ball fields, and public spaces
- Perform building and equipment maintenance
- All Divisions:
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections
- Maintain communication with supervisors
- Respond to emergencies in all weather conditions
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Michigan CDL – Class A or B
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in physically demanding conditions
- Comfort working outdoors in all weather, including nights and weekends
- Strong teamwork, communication, and safety awareness
