About the role

While working for the Caltrans Division of Equipment (DOE), in an Equipment Shop, the Equipment Materiel Specialist (EMS) receives supervision from the Equipment Materiel Manager I / II, and day-to-day direction from the Senior Equipment Materiel Specialist. Performs Equipment Materiel Operations work concerning the purchasing, inventory, disbursement, shipping and receiving of equipment parts, materiel, related equipment and services for the fabrication, maintenance, repair and disposal of mobile equipment. Incumbent must possess a valid class C driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Purchases, inventory, disbursements, shipping and receiving of equipment parts, materiel, related equipment and services for the fabrication, maintenance, repair and disposal of mobile equipment.
  • Performs Equipment Materiel Operations work concerning the purchasing, inventory, disbursement, shipping and receiving of equipment parts, materiel, related equipment and services for the fabrication, maintenance, repair and disposal of mobile equipment.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and policies regarding equipment procurement, storage, and disposal.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of equipment management strategies to optimize resource utilization and minimize costs.
  • Collaborates with other departments to ensure seamless coordination in the supply chain for mobile equipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Class C Driver's License.
  • Experience in equipment management or related field.
  • Knowledge of equipment procurement, inventory management, and logistics.
  • Ability to operate various types of equipment and machinery.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

  • Completion of relevant training programs in equipment management or similar fields.
  • Experience with computerized inventory systems and software.
  • Understanding of environmental and safety regulations related to equipment operations.

Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of equipment repair and maintenance procedures.

Pay

$55,476.00 - $66,396.00 annually.

Schedule

Intermittent - 1500 Hours per year.
