Equine Ambulatory Veterinarian

About the role

Tacoma Equine Hospital is seeking an Associate Veterinarian with expertise in sports medicine, internal medicine, or reproduction. The ideal candidate will have a collaborative mindset, advanced skills or interest in one of these areas, and a passion for providing excellent equine care.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the five-doctor team to expand advanced services
• See appointments between 9 AM–5 PM Monday through Friday
• Enjoy a 1:1 doctor-to-assistant ratio during business hours
• Participate in shared emergency coverage among all doctors
• Benefit from a company vehicle with a fully stocked vet box
• Have the option of a four-day work week (32 hours) or a five-day work week (40 hours)
• Enjoy time off to explore the Pacific Northwest's trails, mountains, and coast

Requirements

• Advanced skills or interest in sports medicine, internal medicine, or reproduction
• A passion for delivering excellent equine care
• Ability to handle horses safely and perform farm/field work in various conditions
• Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation

Qualifications

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree
• Current license to practice veterinary medicine in Washington State
• Experience in equine practice preferred

Skills

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Strong clinical skills in sports medicine, internal medicine, or reproduction
• Ability to manage a busy caseload and provide compassionate care

Pay

The expected salary/hourly range for this position is $80,000 - $120,000 per year. The final compensation offered may vary based on factors including experience, education, certifications, skills, geographic location, and internal equity considerations.

Schedule

The ideal candidate will have the option of a four-day work week (32 hours) or a five-day work week (40 hours).
