About the Role

Welcome to the University of North Texas System. The UNT System includes the University of North Texas in Denton and Frisco, the University of North Texas at Dallas and UNT Dallas College of Law, and University of North Texas Health Fort Worth. We are the only university system based exclusively in the robust Dallas-Fort Worth region.

The UNT System Human Resources Department is one department made of a team of teams that supports various constituencies and component institutions within our UNT System Enterprise while working together to achieve the vision of becoming an enterprise that is values-driven and customer-focused with an emphasis on excellence, curiosity, and innovation.

This position is in the Human Resources Department's Office of Equal Opportunity (EO) supporting UNT System. The Equal Opportunity Investigator is responsible for receiving, triaging, and resolving allegations of discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, and related retaliation.

Responsibilities

  • Performs discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, and related retaliation investigations.
  • Functions as an office point of contact for inquiries and walk-ins.
  • Consults with leadership as needed to respond to consultations, prepare investigation plans, and make final determinations in investigations.
  • Reviews all related policies for compliance and submits necessary revisions and recommended best practices.
  • Works collaboratively with the campus Title IX Coordinators, Academic Affairs, Faculty Affairs, Student Affairs, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Monitors timeliness and works with other necessary units to ensure timely completion of projects and investigations.
  • Assists with compliance and training related to nondiscrimination laws, including Title IX and related System and campus initiatives.
  • Supports EO/TIX training programs across campuses and System Administration locations, including anti-discrimination, sexual misconduct, and managerial essentials training in virtual and in-person formats.
  • Maintains knowledge of HR practices, employment laws, UNT System regulations, and campus policies.
  • Updates and monitors EO/TIX training materials and website content for accuracy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Higher Education, Political Science, Public Administration, Law, Human Resources, or a related field and four years of professional related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Demonstrated formal EO/TIX investigation skills, investigation report writing, and Title IX adjudication and resolution experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of federal and state laws, rules and regulations related to EO, ADAA, FMLA, and DOL programs.
  • Experience with Title IX compliance, sex-based discrimination, and investigation methodology.
  • Strong training development, facilitation, and presentation skills.
  • Problem solving, critical thinking skills, and conflict resolution experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to work independently.

Skills

  • Fact finding/investigatory skills, precision listening ability, analytical ability, and independent decision making related to applicable laws and policies.
  • Knowledge of state and federally mandated reporting requirements.
