What You’ll Do
- Collaborates with department staff to ensure efficient and reliable systems operations.
- Maintains and evaluates interfaces and provides recommendations to improve operations.
- Meets with decision makers as necessary to provide information, communicate project status, and resolve issues.
- Gathers system requirements from stakeholders and develops workflows as required to implement interfaces and/or improve processes.
- Serves as the point-of-contact for various systems interface initiatives.
- Ensures compatibility and inter-operability of applications.
- Conducts research on software and hardware products from an interface perspective and evaluates need for equipment upgrades, modifications, and repairs.
- Installs new equipment and software and troubleshoots problems with new and existing equipment.
- Works with vendors on existing or new interfaces or interface systems.
- Performs feasibility studies for interface related aspects of Epic Systems implementations or enhancements.
- Provides technical support during implementation and installation of interfaces and associated third-party products.
- Ensures issues are systematically reported, tracked and resolved efficiently.
- Provides project management for assigned projects to include creating and managing project timelines, goals, scope, and status.
- Works with the IS Security team to ensure all company policies concerning HIPAA and general system security are adequately represented, reflected and enforced for the systems they are responsible for.
- May be assigned responsibility to ensure the timely provisioning and de-provisioning of appropriate levels of access for the systems that they support.
Qualifications
- Education/Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in a Computer or Healthcare field and at least 2 years' experience working with interfaces and/or EHR configuration in a clinic or technical environment, OR Associate's Degree and at least 4 years' experience working with interfaces and/or EHR configuration in a clinic or technical environment, OR High School Diploma/GED and at least at least 6 years' experience working with Epic, system interfaces, integration engines and/or applications support.
- Additional Experience: Experience with Corepoint Integration Engine. Experience in a healthcare setting. Previous Epic systems experience.
- Certifications: Epic certification preferred, or ability to acquire an Epic certification within 90 days of completed training.
- Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of commonly used interface techniques including HL7, X12, XML. Knowledge of basic data structures and concepts including Structured Query Language (SQL). Knowledge of hardware, software, and peripheral equipment and troubleshooting techniques. Knowledge of clinical workflows and clinical business systems. Effective project management capability throughout the project lifecycle of planning, organizing, managing, and finalizing outcomes. Ability to do requirements gathering and document clinical and business processes and procedures. Ability to design, build and execute a comprehensive system and workflow-based test plans and scripts. Ability to lead group discussions and guide them to make key decisions. Ability to prioritize work, handle a variety of tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Effective verbal, written and listening communication skills. Ability to develop effective working relationships at all organizational levels. Ability to analyze complex data and communicate observations in a simplified manner. Strong customer relations skills including the ability to manage stressful situations. Strong analytical and decision making skills to be able to assess an issue and determine an optimal solution. Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
