Epic Hospital Billing & HIM Applications Manager
About the role
This position manages all activities of an assigned department. Ensures adherence to departmental budgets, project deadlines, and overall goals. Is responsible for providing performance goals for staff, and evaluating their performance based on mutually agreed upon goals.
Responsibilities
- Prepares short- and long-range plans for application selection, systems development, systems maintenance, production activities and necessary support resources; assures the quality and timeliness of products and services
- Analyzes, evaluates, develops and/or implements new computer-based software and hardware systems and sub systems; coordinates new systems procurement processes
- Prepares cost estimates for current and proposed projects, including preparation of the budget, project plans and staff assignment
- Directs staff in the modification and enhancement of existing computer-based systems and/or in analyzing, developing specifications, designing, and documenting assigned projects
- Adheres to and advocates the use and compliance with the methodologies and practices of the Project Management Office (PMO)
- Maintains a knowledge of state-of-the-art computer concepts, software and hardware trends; provides or obtains technical guidance as needed for the department or assigned projects
- Communicates regularly and frequently with project sponsors, the customer community, and other IS staff; establishes priorities with the user community
- Reviews and evaluates personnel work and prepares performance evaluations; makes recommendations on personnel actions and wage administration
Requirements
- BS or BA degree, computer science or business, or the equivalent education, training or work experience; technical seminar and conference attendance helpful
- Minimum of two years’ experience supervising the activities of application systems analysis and programming staff for major projects, multiple small projects, or a department
- Ability to leverage, lead and direct a diverse team with various levels of skills
- Experience coaching and mentoring technical team members
- Ability to work in a matrix management environment
- Minimum 5 years’ directly applicable experience in IT department
- Strong demonstrated knowledge of the systems development life cycle (requirements definition, analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance)
- Strong project management skills are required: development and management of detailed project plans, objectives, control methods, and coordination of project team efforts
- Must be able to prioritize, organize, and assess work to meet deadlines
- Issue tracking and resolution skills, and the ability and commitment to meet aggressive deadlines and to cope in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent organization and time management skills are necessary
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, and effective presentation skills
- Creative, problem solver; effective decision maker who solicits advice appropriately and stands behind his/her convictions
- Able to lead group discussions
- Conflict resolution and negotiation skills
Qualifications
- Ability to work remotely
- Master’s or other advanced degree preferred
