This role serves as a vital technical liaison between Information Technology and Revenue Cycle operational leadership across our enterprise health system. The Epic Applications Analyst II - Hospital Billing (Patient Financials) drives the build, configuration, optimization, and ongoing maintenance of Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) modules—specifically focusing on patient-facing financial components, including pre-service price estimates, deductible and co-pay capture, self-pay billing rules, patient statements, and third-party vendor integrations.

Responsibilities
- Delivers first-level technical support to operational associates utilizing Epic HB, responding to inquiries, troubleshooting application issues, and offering guidance on patient financial workflows (e.g., patient estimates, co-pay/deductible collection, and statement logic).
- Assists in basic system configuration, master file updates, and data entry to support patient estimate rules, self-pay billing cycles, payment plans, and patient-facing preference updates under direction.
- Administers routine system and quality assurance tests on new features, updates, patches, statement modifications, and vendor interface files before implementation to ensure system functionality; reports all discrepancies to senior analysts and leadership.
- Aids in the development of end-user training materials, workflow tip sheets, and reference guides to support the education and onboarding of Patient Financial Services, Patient Access, and clinic staff.
- Provides one-on-one introductory training sessions on Epic HB patient financial workflows and point-of-sale tools under the direct supervision of Senior Analysts or Application Trainers.
- Utilizes the IT service management ticketing system to track, document, update, and resolve end-user support requests, system issues, and workflow inquiries accurately and effectively.
- Handles initial troubleshooting of unresolved, complex, or critical patient account/interface errors, escalating systemic defects to Senior Analysts and Leadership with detailed impact documentation.
Requirements
- Associate's degree in Information Technology, Healthcare, Business Administration, or a relevant field (or three years of experience in Healthcare, EHR systems, or IT support in lieu of education).
- One year of experience in Healthcare, Electronic Health Records (EHR) support, IT support, or revenue cycle/patient accounting operations.
- Epic accreditation/certification in Epic Resolute Hospital Billing (HB) within six months of start date.
Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Basic problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to learn new software applications and technical workflows quickly.
- Familiarity with revenue cycle operations, healthcare billing concepts (co-pays, deductibles, self-pay), and general hospital operations.
