EOSH Specialist
Leidos is seeking a mid-level Environmental and Occupational Safety and Health (EOSH) Professional to join the National Airspace System (NAS) Integration Support Contract (NISC IV) team located in the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Central Region Office in Kansas City, MO. This role provides direct support to the Designated Agency Safety and Health Official (DASHO) Support Group (AJW-25), assisting FAA Lines of Business and Staff Office (LOB/SO) organizations with development and implementation of EOSH programs, processes, and procedures.
About the role
The focus of this position is to provide Regional Occupational Safety, Health, and Environmental Resource (ROSHER) Program support to the FAA to improve safety and health for employees, contractors, and visitors in accordance with FAA Order 3900.19. The role requires reporting to the client office in Kansas City, MO at least 3 days per week, with potential travel to FAA Central Region facilities (Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Iowa) or other FAA locations as needed. Up to 25% telework is available, and travel may also account for up to 25%.
Responsibilities
- Provide EOSH Subject Matter Expert (SME) assistance and perform EOSH-related program implementation and management activities as assigned by the office of the DASHO (AJW-25).
- Assist LOB/SO in achieving compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations.
- Assist LOB/SO managers in mitigating workplace hazards at assigned FAA facilities.
- Perform administrative tasks under the FAA Regional/Center OSHECCOM Charter, including documenting meeting minutes, developing meeting content, and scheduling/coordinating meetings.
- Respond to emergency EOSH situations at FAA facilities, including accident/illness investigations and reports of unsafe working conditions.
- Create written OSH programs and standard operating procedures for FAA LOB/SO.
- Perform and oversee site visits, creating and submitting accurate trip reports.
- Review and evaluate draft documents such as proposed orders and procedures for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including consensus standards.
- Develop and draft policy and guidance documents.
- Perform annual workplace safety and health inspections at assigned FAA facilities using the FAA’s Workplace Inspection Tool.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of contract-required administrative activities, such as time-card entry and reporting.
- Maintain frequent communication with managers, FAA personnel, and other contractor personnel.
- Oversee multiple EOSH projects, tasks, and deadlines in a fast-paced team environment.
- Communicate effectively in written and verbal form, providing well-organized documentation.
- Provide safety, health, and environmental-related training to FAA employees.
Requirements
- Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field from a 4-year accredited college/university with 6 years of prior relevant experience, or a master’s degree in occupational safety and health with at least 4 years of prior relevant experience.
- Advanced knowledge and experience with Environmental Occupational Health and Safety laws, regulations, practices, and protocols.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects concurrently.
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time and report to scheduled FAA facilities regularly.
- Excellent communication skills for responding to technical questions and performing program presentations.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust suitability status based on client requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous work experience for/with the FAA is highly preferred.
- Prior work experience with U.S. government managers, employees, and programs.
- Current accreditation as a Certified Safety Specialist, Certified Industrial Hygienist, and/or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager.
- Experience conducting indoor air quality investigations and drinking water sampling.
- Experience preparing and providing safety, health, or environmental training.
Pay
Pay Range: $73,450.00 - $132,775.00. The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreements, or other law.
