Environmental Technician II

Responsibilities

• Perform tests and sampling of environmental materials including air, groundwater, building materials, and noise.
• Operate field monitoring equipment and calibrate devices such as PID or combustible gas indicators.
• Assist with operation, installation, and maintenance of remediation systems.
• Assist drill crews in obtaining soil and groundwater samples.
• May assist with asbestos surveys, abatement projects, Phase I preliminary site assessments, and perform oversight and air monitoring during asbestos abatement projects.
• Sample suspect asbestos‑containing building materials in accordance with AHERA guidelines.
• Conduct monitoring well sampling.
• Transport material samples or documents to the lab for further testing and analysis.
• Tabulate and prepare data for written reports.
• Clean and maintain field monitoring equipment.
• Perform standardized and complex field tests as directed, including special inspections.
• Follow safety rules, guidelines, and standards for all projects; adhere to strict safety standards.
• Participate in pre‑task planning and report any safety issues or concerns to management.
• Maintain quality standards on all projects.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 4–6 years of relevant experience, or equivalent training and related experience.
• A valid driver’s license with an acceptable violation history may be required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification in the field of expertise, such as:
  • Asbestos Inspector
  • Asbestos Project Monitor
  • Lead Inspector
  • Mold Technician
