Job Summary
As an Environmental Services Manager, you will assist in managing day-to-day operational needs of the housekeeping/environmental services department at a 400 bed acute care hospital. You will coordinate the tasks of 15 department associates per shift and assist in training and development. You will serve as a liaison between administration and unit departments and provide the highest possible level of service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for department’s financial data and statistics
- Monitoring of unit expenditures
- Develops and recommends department operating budget and ensure the department operates within budget
- Captures and coordinates housekeeping activities with other departments
- Plans, organizes, directs, coordinates, and supervises functions and activities of the department
- Establishes work standards and work flow
- Establishes and implements policies and procedures for departmental operations
- Encourages and mentor staff creativity and innovation
- Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies
- Proactive in the achievement of the facility goals and objectives
- Demonstrates quality leadership in meeting performance plans
- Reads, develops, and administers Total Quality Management process
- Additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- One to three years of supervisory/management experience is required
- Environmental services or housekeeping experience preferred
- Experience in an acute care hospital preferred
- Strong work ethic, drive, and initiative for quality and customer service
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills both one-on-one and in group situations
- Able to use a participative approach to managing staff
- Understanding of budgeting processes and awareness of profit and loss concepts
- Excellent administrative and organizational skills and the ability to prioritize
- Able to function appropriately under stressful conditions
- RCCST or any other applicable sterile processing certification is preferred
- Proficient computer skills and knowledge of MS Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet
