Environmental Scientist/Specialist Senior- Restoration Crew Leader | Elmhurst, IL

Position Overview

Davey Resource Group, a Davey Company, seeks an experienced Environmental Scientist/Restoration Specialist. This role serves government, utility, commercial, private, and not-for-profit clients, providing services to manage natural resources and comply with policies.

Job Duties

• Provide services and solutions to clients for efficient and effective natural resource management and compliance with policies.
• Collaborate with a team to lead and train fellow team members on field work, communicate professionally with clients, and assist with wetland delineation and city tree inventories.
• Inspect and assess habitats, identify invasive species, and recognize common diseases and pests.
• Develop appropriate solutions based on client contract needs and specifications.
• Train and mentor teammates on various aspects of field work.

Qualifications

• Possess an Illinois Department of Agriculture Certified Pesticide Applicators License.
• Have prescribed burn experience and S130/S190 certification.
• Identify invasive species across a range of habitats.
• Train and operate with chain saws, brush saws, 4x4 ATVs/UTVs, tractors, and skid steers.
• Hold a degree in biology, botany, ecology, conservation, environmental science, or related fields.
• Have three to five years of experience in ecological restoration.
• Able to acquire a Class C driver's license and maintain a clean driving record.
• Willing to travel and lead crews of 1-4 people.

Additional Information

• Work schedule: 40-50 hours per week, Monday-Friday with some Saturdays optional.
• Starting hourly wage: $22 - $25 per hour based on experience and qualifications.
