Overview
TRC is seeking a junior-level environmental scientist to support our environmental and natural resource staff in our Houston, TX office. Projects are mainly focused on renewable (i.e., wind and solar) development, pipeline and transmission development, and transportation projects across the state.
Responsibilities
- Conduct U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) wetland / waters / stream delineations and functional assessments.
- Clean Water Act Section 404 permitting,
- Endangered Species Act (ESA) threatened, endangered, and protected species habitat assessments.
- Affiliate with senior technical staff with federal, state, and local environmental permitting.
- Conducting Phase I Environmental Site Assessments.
Qualifications
- The successful candidate is expected to have a minimum of 1-3 years of relevant natural resources field and reporting experience.
- The position requires a Bachelor of Science degree in biology or a related field (i.e., ecology, wildlife biology, aquatic biology, botany, zoology) plus 1-3 years of work experience as described above.
- The successful candidate will be able to work independently under the direction of a Project Manager, must be eager to learn, and have strong technical report writing skills, interpersonal and communication skills, and organizational skills.
- An average of 50% of work time could account for out-of-town traveling and field work.

Compensation
In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.
