Environmental Scientist

(GSI) has an immediate opening for an Entry- to Mid-Level Scientist in our Fayetteville, NY office to support our risk assessment, water resources, environmental, and geotechnical practices. Responsibilities

• Support projects in toxicology, ecology, human health and ecological risk assessment, public health, hydrogeology, and water resources.
• Perform technical analyses and assist in preparing high-quality technical presentations, reports, letters, plans, and proposals with guidance from supervisors and project technical leads (PTLs).
• Assist in preparing workplans and sampling and analysis plans for site investigations used to inform risk assessment, remediation options, regulatory compliance, litigation matters, and research projects.
• Manage, analyze, and interpret environmental data using statistical analysis and data visualization tools.
• Perform data compilation, exploratory data analysis, data visualization, QA/QC, and computer modeling.
• Independently perform research tasks with input from technical experts.
• Participate in proposal development, project management, and business development activities.
• Contribute to a positive team atmosphere through collaboration with technical experts, project managers, colleagues, and subcontractors.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree with a background in toxicology; Ph.D. preferred.
• Up to 2 years of relevant professional work experience preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong critical thinking, time management, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and programming skills in R and/or Python preferred.
• Interest in leveraging automated workflows and data science tools.
• Knowledge of statistical methods and probabilistic analysis applied to toxicology.
• Collaborative mindset.
• Experience using mapping software such as ESRI ArcGIS is a plus.
• Ability and willingness to travel.
