ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTIST
About the role
The incumbent is an interdisciplinary team member responsible for preparing and reviewing complex environmental documents, technical studies, and analytical reports to ensure compliance with CEQA, NEPA, and environmental resource laws.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review environmental documents, technical studies, and reports.
- Identify and analyze environmental impacts of transportation systems, corridors, and projects.
- Formulate, calculate, and quantify measures to mitigate impacts on biological, cultural, and community resources.
- Provide consultation recommendations and guidance to consultants.
- Manage project resources within the purview of their responsibilities.
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with internal and external partners.
- Investigate and implement innovative solutions to meet project deliverables.
- Complete job-related and required training.
- Respond to customer service inquiries.
- Prepare technical reports and written/verbal correspondence.
- Occasionally perform site visits, including remote areas.
Requirements
Must possess a valid driver's license and be willing to operate a state-owned or leased vehicle.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree in environmental science, biology, geology, or a related field, and relevant work experience.
Skills
Strong oral and written communication skills, ability to prepare technical reports, and proficiency in using software for environmental analysis.
